Join us for our winter social: the GlobalWelsh 'Cwtch', Nov 9th, Cardiff

22 Oct, 2018

We’re holding a fabulous winter social event for GlobalWelsh pioneers, patrons and investors - and we now have a limited number of tickets available for non-members and general community members, too.

We don’t want you to miss out on this rare opportunity - and we’d love to get to know you in person on the 9th! We want to thank our supporters for believing in us and showing us the kind of appetite for change and ambition we have always recognised in Welsh people and friends of Wales, no matter what their story and where they are in the world.

Our movement is gaining traction and we now have members in 33 countries - we’re showcasing some of our key members and supporters and celebrating how far we’ve come in the last year and a half.

We're delighted that we now have two event partners working with us to support the occasion and celebrate with us, the wonderful Orchard Media and Events Group and Odgers Berndston. Thanks to both sponsors for their patience, energy and vision!

Come celebrate - and join us at the inaugural ‘GlobalWelsh Cwtch’ on the 9th November 2018.

The GlobalWelsh Cwtch consists of two events in two locations:

The Principality Stadium

When: Friday 9th November from 10am to 2pm

Where: Cardiff (The Principality Stadium)

What’s Occurin?

Witness the Captain’s Run at the Principality stadium - the final training session for the Welsh rugby team (strictly no photography/filming or Australian nationals!) the day before the Wales v Australia game. These sessions are closed to members of the public and not available for purchase.

When WRU donated a pair of tickets for this recently, the tickets were auctioned for £1,500. Look out for a special guest appearance from Warren Gatland, who will be present at the start of the event, to kick things off in style!

Join broadcaster and presenter Guto Harri as he introduces us to inspirational speakers, supporters and pioneers including:

Martyn Phillips: on leaving Wales, heading up B&Q as their CEO and his challenges/opportunities as CEO of the WRU.

David Buttress: his story of leaving Wales, building the Just Eat mega brand, becoming Chairman of the Dragons and the parallels between business and elite sport.

Tecwyn Davies (Digital Operations Manager, Premier League) and his experience of partnership working with some of the world’s global brands - Coca-Cola, Heineken, MasterCard and Emirates.

Dylan Pugh (Global Agency Lead, Spotify) on his experience as a rugby-player turned gaming and music streaming exec at the world’s biggest music streaming site - and that time he sang the Welsh National Anthem to the New Jersey office on his first day of work!

Rhona Parry (Vice President, External Affairs, Equifax) on her journey from farmer's daughter, to negotiating with international power-brokers as Vice President of the global data giant Equifax, via ITV, Ofcom and the BBC.

Enjoy lunch in the stadium, refreshments, networking and a chance to meet board members, Martyn, patrons and fellow-pioneers following the Captain’s Run and lunch.

Take the optional stadium tour Relax during the interval - a chance to head into town, back to your hotel to change or a rest!

Milk & Sugar

When: Friday 9th November from 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Where: Milk & Sugar, The Old Library, The Hayes, Cardiff

What’s Occurin? Party Time!

At 5.30pm head over to the after party gathering and social event in town at Milk & Sugar (Old Library).

Entertainment, refreshments, and a celebratory drink/sing-song courtesy of some of our musical friends!

Learn how GlobalWelsh has made an impact following our recent Meet the Makers initiative. You’ll hear from some of the benefactors of the recent Pelican Products collaboration (Tiny Rebel, Creo Medical and Sure Chill) which took place last month, which has helped six entrepreneurs grow their businesses and expand their horizons.

Get yourself some swag by bagging an exclusive Cwtch T-shirt and pioneer pin.

150 places have already been claimed by our Global Welsh Pioneers (who donated more than £100 to the cause), we're now fully booked with only a small number of possible tickets available on request. Contact gemma@globalwelsh.com to check on availability for the event and how to book tickets.

Pioneers attending the event receive TWO tickets to this inspirational event and if you're a new pioneer, you'll also get:

  • A shiny spangly certificate
  • A golden pioneer profile on the GlobalWelsh website
  • Early access to upcoming events
  • Ability to submit call-outs and request introductions

We’re developing our presence globally and building alliances with pioneers in regions all over the globe. But we’re not done yet - and we need to rely on the support of our pioneers and patrons to help get us there.

Events like this give us the chance to meet you face-to-face and introduce you to others who may be able to help.

We can’t do any of this without the generosity of our supporters, donors and friends of GlobalWelsh who graciously donate their time, money and expertise.

Reminder - we do not receive core funding of any kind - from anyone. Just investments and donations from passionate friends of Wales who want Wales and our global family to do well, no matter what their political persuasion or cultural connection to Wales.

We have a LOT to celebrate….so, will you be joining us?
