A Welsh love story
- Born In Wales, Lived in Wales
- Sydney, Australia
Cenedl heb iaith yw cenedl heb calon. Translated it means a culture without a language, is a culture without a heart, and so 12,000 miles away in sunny Sydney, Australia, I speak Welsh fluently, everyday to my children.
I love our welcoming nature, our warm hearts. I love our humour. I love the way we laugh at ourselves before we laugh at others
We emigrated in 2015 but we have ping-ponged between Wales and Australia for many years. You see, in 1994, this newly graduated adventurous 21 year old Welsh girl, decided to go travelling on her own. Little did she expect that just after 4 months of travelling she was to fall head over heels in love with an Australian man. Together for 22 years this year - the rest is history, as they say.
We returned and got married in Wales. My husband has known from the very beginning how important Wales and the Welsh language is to me, (he even delivered his wedding vows in Welsh).
I love Wales. Plain and simple. I love our welcoming nature, our warm hearts. I love our humour. I love the way we laugh at ourselves before we laugh at others. I love our cwtches. Even though we now live in Oz, it doesn't matter where I will go, my heart will always be in Wales.
