Apps made in Wales: 6 Welsh businesses that are shaping the app space

11 Dec, 2025

December 11th marks National App Day, and there’s never been a better moment to recognise the impact mobile apps have on our daily lives. The UK’s mobile app market is growing at extraordinary speed, with predictions that by the end of 2025 it will reach £28.3 billion and generate around 8.5 billion downloads. They now play a defining role in how individuals learn, work, shop, connect, and engage with the world.

Against this backdrop of rapid digital growth, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on our GlobalWelsh Business Members who are making their mark in the Welsh app space. From apprenticeship platforms to social-care tools, sustainable banking apps to fitness technology, language-learning apps to cutting-edge learning systems, these businesses are building purposeful, innovative solutions that meet real needs. Their work reflects the creativity, ambition, and technical excellence thriving within Wales’s digital community.

In this article, we showcase six GlobalWelsh Business Members whose apps represent the very best of Welsh innovation and the growing global potential of Wales’ tech ecosystem.

The Social Work Way

Founded by Matthew Davies, The Social Work Way is a Welsh app transforming how social workers, families, and local authorities manage and navigate complex cases. Joining GlobalWelsh in October 2025, Matthew has championed digital tools that help practitioners and support better outcomes for children and families.

The app brings essential features into one platform, including referral management, personalised journey-mapping, and interactive direct-work tools. Users also benefit from quick access to resources, well-being support, and a dedicated job directory.

By easing admin pressures and improving case clarity, The Social Work Way gives practitioners more time to focus on meaningful support for children and families, a standout example of Welsh innovation in frontline social care.

For employers, posting roles is effortless, with the app matching candidates based on skills and interests and offering one-tap application management. Free for young people and operating on PAYG or subscription for employers, Prentis+ is gaining strong early traction, including partnerships with Cardiff & Vale College and organisations like Dyfed-Powys Police and Torfaen Council.

In a recruitment industry worth over $650bn globally, Prentis+ is carving out a unique space, making apprenticeships more visible, accessible, and personalised for the next generation.
