The year so far: 2024 achievements
2024 has already been a remarkable year for GlobalWelsh so far filled with numerous achievements. GlobalWelsh continues to grow and make a significant impact within our community and beyond.
Time flies when you're having fun and it's always good to look back and reflect on how far you've come so we've put together a summary of our key highlights from the first half of this year...
What are the highlights of your year so far?
Here are some key highlights from the first half of the year:
Since January we've welcomed 306 new members and 52 business members
Published 10 Business Spotlight articles on our members (read more)
Promoted 2 Wonderful Welsh Stories (read more) and 5 articles promoting Welsh industry (read more)
Launched three major projects in partnership with key stakeholders:
- Blaenau Gwent Diaspora Project with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council (read more)
- Brain Drain Research Project with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (read more)
- Carmarthen and Ceredigion Diaspora Hub Project with ARFOR and Sgema (read more)
We've worked closely with our Charity Partner of the Year, Hay Festival (read more).

We've promoted 87 job opportunities to help Welsh businesses access the diaspora talent pool (view here)
We've supported 19 Callouts. From calls for collaboration to crowdfunding, from new connections to new markets (view here)
GlobalWelsh Invest
Through GlobalWelsh Invest, so far this year we've supported 34 businesses who are looking to raise money through pitch training through to investor relations.
Here’s a closer look at our impact:
- 14 businesses pitched at one of our Connect to London events (both online and in person).
- 4 businesses had exclusive individual online pitch events
- 3 businesses utilised our Callout feature to promote their crowdfunding campaigns.
- 2 businesses are receiving ongoing consultancy from our expert, FCA-regulated investment advisor.
- 8 businesses received feedback and support through pitch deck reviews.
- 3 businesses successfully raised investment through the GW Invest network.
In addition to these successes, GlobalWelsh Invest has built strong relationships with other stakeholders in Wales to support early-stage companies in raising investment.
We have also initiated a series of GlobalWelsh Invest support packages, in partnership with investment advisors, to offer workshops and consultancy throughout the entire investment journey. These packages cover everything from idea generation and pitch deck creation to actively promoting companies to a network of Angel and VC investors (FCA regulated).
